Advanced Network Config: Split-Tunneling & Protocols

Category: Tutorial · · Source: Kuaiya Official

For users who have mastered the basics, "how to use the accelerator more precisely" is the next challenge. On August 2, 2026, Kuaiya released an advanced configuration guide covering split-tunneling, protocol selection and custom rules, helping users unlock full acceleration potential for their specific network environment.

Default one-click connect already handles most scenarios, but in complex networks or special needs, fine-grained configuration yields better results. This guide targets advanced users willing to dig deeper, offering a systematic configuration approach.

Smart Split-Tunneling: Distinguish Direct vs. Accelerated

Split tunneling lets you specify which apps or domains route through the acceleration channel and which stay on direct local access. A typical setup adds overseas-service apps to the acceleration list while keeping domestic apps on direct access, balancing speed on both ends.

The entry is under "Split Tunneling" in the client. You can add rules by app or domain, and import rule lists. For uncertain traffic, start with system defaults and adjust gradually based on actual access.

Protocol Selection: Adapt to Different Networks

Kuaiya ships WireGuard, OpenVPN, V2Ray and more. WireGuard is lightweight and efficient for common scenarios; V2Ray offers stronger penetration in restricted networks; OpenVPN has broad compatibility. Switch protocols based on the degree of network restriction.

The rule of thumb is simple: if the default protocol fails or drops frequently, try others in turn. Generally, the more restricted the environment, the more you need protocols with obfuscation.

Custom Rules and Troubleshooting

Advanced users can write custom routing rules to precisely control the path of specific IP ranges or domains. Such rules suit professional scenarios requiring fixed access paths, such as stable connections to specific business systems.

After configuration, verify results with the client's built-in latency and loss monitoring. If a rule causes anomalies, disable it and revert to defaults, then isolate the issue one rule at a time to avoid conflicts affecting the whole connection.

Data and Feedback

Kuaiya observes that over half of advanced-configuration users are developers, operations engineers and cross-border e-commerce professionals, who demand high control over network paths. Proper split-tunneling and protocol choice often bring over 20% experience improvement.

An operations user reported that after fixing business-system paths with custom rules, connection stability improved markedly and daily troubleshooting became more efficient — professional scenarios where fine-grained configuration shines.

The Kuaiya team says advanced configuration will keep expanding, with friendlier rule management and visual interfaces ahead, so more users can enjoy customized network experiences without deep technical background.

The protocol-selection section is clear; switching really stabilized things.
